ART ONE: Course Description Students in Art One will investigate and respond to the visual arts. The standards emphasize the importance of content, concepts, and skills involved in the creation of original works of art. The standards introduce a chronological approach to visual communication and production, cultural context and art history, judgment and criticism, and aesthetics that enhance student understanding of the ways in which art functions within a multicultural society. Students will continue to maintain a portfolio and select representative work to take to the next level of study. Major components of this course include the develop an online portfolio with original works of art, preparation for and participation in various exhibits, and the development of artistic awareness, imagination, perception, understanding, and skill. Students are fostered to enhance their creativity, self-expression, self confidence, and self-discipline. Additionally, the students improve craftsmanship, problem solving abilities, cultural understandings and safety procedures. |
