ART TWO: Course Description This is a developmental year for the artists of DRHSART. Because it is still a beginning level course, the classes are comprised of a wide range of student ability. This class is aimed at helping students discover their creativity, and teaching them how to think differently. Through a variety of videos, websites, and creative challenges, the students are challenged to think about the world in a new way. Much of this course is dedicated to helping students understand the basic elements and principles of good design. An array of creative challenges are assigned to teach students how to arrange visual elements in space. Additionally, students are given the opportunity to discover the history of art according to their own individually taste as they develop rich content in their visual journals. A major components of this course include the develop an online portfolio with original works of art, preparation for and participation in various exhibits, and the development of artistic awareness, imagination, perception, understanding, and skill. Students are fostered to hone their creativity, self-expression, self confidence, and self-discipline. Additionally, the students improve craftsmanship, problem solving abilities, cultural understandings and safety procedures. |
