3 Works of Art
This summer, you will be required to create a minimum of 3 works of art that are all connected by either the medium, theme, or style.  There is no minimum or maximum scale of your work, nor are there any limitations on the media used.  The only requirement is that you are invested into the work, and that you are proud to exhibit it in September.

Artist Statement
You are also required to write an artist’s statement about the work that you have created. That statement must be well-written, and posted on your site before the first day of school.  As you begin to think about your work this summer, consider building off of what worked well for you last year.

Upon our return to school, your work will be photographed, and added to your website.

(It is recommended that you look to some of the top achieving students from the past to get an idea of how they wrote their artist statements)

Get Started Early
Please do not wait until the last two weeks of summer to get started. Those of you who take this seriously, and work hard to create conceptually and aesthetically sound works, will be much better prepared for the Scholastics Competition in December.

Your Work Will Be On Display
When we return from the summer break, we will jump right into the critique of the work you created over the summer. Do not think of this summer work as something that is meant to keep you busy. Instead, think of this work as a competition for a juried exhibition that will take place upon your return to school.  All students will be showcased in the exhibition, and this will be the first impression for many of the rising Freshman into the DRHSART program.
