| Inspired by the RVA Mural Project, the DRHSART students will compete in teams to have their mural designs approved for the hallways within Deep Run High School. This mural competition piggy backs on the year long team competition in which students have been battling it out for both team and individual awards at the end of the school year. This assignment is aimed at keeping the creative and competitive spirit alive in the classroom during the final marking period of the school year. Not only will this competition and mural project motivate the students to produce high quality designs, it will also keep them excited about the work they are making, as it will have a lasting effect on the overall environment of our school well after they graduate. With only one final marking period left for the DRHSART teams to earn points and climb the leaderboard, this mural design competition offers big rewards to the top design teams. Each team in the competition will propose 3 separate mural designs for three distinct areas of the school. All designs will be judged by the Deep Run High School administration team, and those teams whose designs are chosen will earn 25 bonus points toward their total team score. This provides each team with the opportunity to earn as many as 75 total bonus points. All team and individual points will be measured and tallied on Friday May 23rd, and the winning team will be announced that day. The award to the winning team will be an Italian meal made by me and served to the students in a backyard celebration in Carytown. Additionally, the individual with the most points through May 26th will earn an original painting by me. Let the competition begin! |
