For those students who are not up to speed with Weebly, please take the time to view this tutorial before the day of the exam: Creating a blog ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part One: Art Advocacy Essay (50%) Blog Entry: The first portion of your exam will require you to craft a well-written, succinct, and personal blog entry about the importance of art in education. This blog entry should be titled "Art Advocacy". The blog entry should be written from personal experience and should also briefly address the research of Sir Ken Robinson (discussed in class on multiple occasions this year). Blog entries should be a minimum of three paragraphs, and should be thoughtfully organized. It is highly recommended that you brainstorm and pre-write first. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part Two: Artist Research Reflection (50%) Create a blog entry about the artists you studied this semester. Your blog entry must include at least one image of each artist's trademark works, and at least one link to credible information about him or her. As you write, describe the style of the artist's work with detail. You should also discuss the time in which the artist worked and the artistic movement of which the artist was a part. Excellent essays will reference specific works by the artist, and have meaningful and personal commentary about the work. |

This blog entry should be titled "What Art has taught Me". Be specific as you write, and don't only write about the literal lessons we have covered. Think philosophically, and describe how art has changed your awareness and your understanding about your own creativity. As you write, be aware of your spelling and grammar. Blog entries should be a minimum of three paragraphs, and should be thoughtfully organized. It is highly recommended that you brainstorm and pre-write first. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Part Two: Artist Research Reflection Create a blog entry for each of the artists you studied this semester. This project will require a LOT of planning and thinking prior to diving in. For this portion of the exam, I want to read a thoughtful blog post about how you might be able to solve the creative problem that was given to you by chance with your lottery numbers. Discuss how you are planning to attack the problem, describe multiple possible solutions. |

Part One: Complete Website (50%) The first part of your exam includes having an up-to-date website with all of the following criteria in place: All websites must have a links for the following: Portfolio | Sketckbook | Blog Below is a detailed description of what is needed for each section of your site. For those of you who want to see an example of a student website that is exemplary, take a peek at some of the featured websites by current and past students on the drhsart site. He has a very thorough and complete site, and even went beyond the minimum requirements to make it more professional. Portfolio Link: Your site should contain a link to a photo gallery of at least each work of art you've created this year, including summer work. For the small for the "two-weeks 10 works" assignment, you only need to have your top 3 works per critique. Sketchbook Link: You should have a link to a photo gallery containing a minimum of 5 sketchbook pages. These pages can contain sketches, brainstorming, or artist studies. Blog: This link should include reflection entries from each of the critiques we have had this year, with the most recent being at the top of your blog list: All entries should contain an images of your most work and a reflection about your process, how it was received at critique, the most helpful feedback from your peers, and where you plan to take your work next. This is an ongoing assignment that should be completed at the end of each critique we have.
